These biodegradable paper cups are double walled, making them thicker and more resistant to heat transfer, so no need for separate clutches.
Most paper cups have either a thin plastic or wax lining to make them waterproof. Unfortunately, this means they are not biodegradable, and makes them impossible to recycle.
These biodegradable cups are different because they are lined with a biodegradable plastic. This means that although they are still not recyclable, they will fully biodegrade. Usually, the biodegradable plastic (PLA) demands the high heat and humidity of a commercial compost facility to degrade, but the lining on these cups is so thin, we would expect them to break down under domestic composting conditions.
Unfortunately, biodegradable lids are not yet available for these cups. However, if a regular plastic lid is acceptable, a lid is available under product reference ML8.
